schools-out-for-summer-495x315Time spent learning translates into a better prepared workforce and the Mesa County Business Education Foundation (MCBEF) is committed to helping identify and support community initiatives that offer opportunities for learning outside the classroom and/or on the job. With that in mind, the foundation has teamed with other community organizations to offer a unique opportunity for parents to learn about summer options for younger aged students and summer employment for high schoolers at one location.

The event, dubbed the Summer Youth Education and Employment Fair will take place on Thursday, April 9th, 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Grand Mesa Middle School. Booths from a variety of organizations and employers will offer timely information and opportunities for one on one dialogue. A partial list of exhibitors includes the Mesa County Library, Western Colorado Community College, CMU Athletic Camps, Western Colorado Math and Science Center, GJ Parks and Recreation Department, US Forest Service, Mesa County Workforce Center and Girl Scouts. There is no cost to attend.

Booth space is available for non-profit organizations and businesses offering a learning program for youth during the summer along with summer employment for youth.  Click here to download the application form.
