YP Summit

One of the greatest investments we can make in the future of Western Colorado is investing in the people who will lead it.

That’s the vision behind the 2026 Western Slope YP Summit.

On Wednesday, August 19, the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce and the Young Professionals Network (YPN) of Mesa County will once again partner to bring together emerging professionals from across the region for a full day of personal and professional development at Colorado Mesa University. Together, the Chamber and YPN are committed to creating opportunities that not only strengthen careers but also strengthen the communities we call home.

This year’s theme, Place. Purpose. Possibility., reflects a simple but powerful belief. Strong communities are built by people who choose to invest in themselves. As young professionals grow in confidence, develop new skills, expand their networks, and discover their purpose, they build deeper roots. Those roots create stronger businesses, stronger organizations, and a stronger Western Colorado.

The Western Slope YP Summit isn’t simply another professional development conference. It’s designed to equip attendees with practical tools they can use immediately while creating meaningful connections that last long after the event ends. Whether you’re beginning your career, preparing for your next opportunity, managing your first team, or simply looking for what’s next, the Summit is designed to meet you where you are and help you move forward.

We’re especially excited to welcome two outstanding keynote speakers whose sessions perfectly reflect this year’s theme.

The day begins with Understanding Yourself. Connecting with Others. presented by Jennifer Reiser of Rise Up Leadership Solutions.

Every person brings a unique perspective to the workplace. We each communicate differently, process information differently,
make decisions differently, and are motivated by different things. Jennifer will introduce attendees to the Leading in Color framework, helping them better understand their own communication style while learning practical strategies to connect more effectively with others. Through greater self-awareness, participants will strengthen relationships, improve collaboration, and build confidence that extends throughout every stage of their career. Because every great career begins with understanding yourself, every strong relationship begins with understanding others, and together those connections create the possibility to make a lasting impact on the place you call home.

At lunch, attendees will hear from Tiffany Malone of Bright Eye Consulting during Intentional Influence: Understanding Decisions. Earning Influence.
Every day we make decisions that shape our careers, our relationships, and our future. At the same time, we’re influencing the decisions of others, often without even realizing it. Tiffany will explore the psychology behind decision-making and influence, helping attendees understand why people make the choices they do while uncovering the biases and assumptions that shape their own thinking. Participants will leave with practical strategies for making more intentional decisions, communicating with greater purpose, and building influence through trust, credibility, and thoughtful communication.

Beyond the keynote experiences, attendees will customize their day by selecting from a series of interactive breakout sessions designed to provide practical tools they can immediately apply in both their personal and professional lives. Sessions will explore topics such as building confidence and influence before you ever have a leadership title, strengthening financial wellbeing, navigating difficult conversations with greater confidence, preventing burnout while pursuing career success, and discovering meaningful ways to become more engaged in the community.

Whether attendees are looking to sharpen workplace skills, expand their professional network, or uncover new opportunities for growth, every session is intentionally designed to help them invest in themselves while building deeper connections to the place they call home.

Throughout the day, attendees will also experience intentional networking, interactive activities, and opportunities to connect with peers from industries across Western Colorado. The Summit concludes with the BestSlope NextGen Awards, celebrating young professionals whose leadership, innovation, and commitment are making a meaningful impact throughout our region.

At its heart, the Western Slope YP Summit is about possibility.

It’s about discovering your strengths, expanding your perspective, building relationships, and finding opportunities to make a difference both professionally and personally.

Because when people invest in themselves, they don’t just build successful careers. They help build remarkable communities.
