Recently, 267 individuals responded to a Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Survey conducted independently for the Chamber by the Western Association of Chamber Executives Association. The Association is able to benchmark the Grand Junction Chamber results to those of other Chambers completing the survey in 14 states which aids the local organization in planning on how best to serve the members.
Shown below is some of the high-level data gathered so far. The results were still being analyzed as of press time and the board will consider all of the results at their board planning session on November 3rd.
- Response rate was 19.43% — average is about 21%
Top three reasons for belonging to the Grand Junction Chamber:- Business Exposure
- Connections with other businesses
- Want to make a difference in our community
- 40% of members deem the chamber as highly relevant to their business, 45% moderately relevant
- Top three most valuable chamber programs and services (4 is a perfect score):
- Government Affairs Committee – 2.83
- Workforce Development Programs – 2.62
- CMU 20,000 Initiative – 2.53
- Top 3 most important task of the chamber (percent represents the percentage that ranked the task a 7, 8 or 9 on a 9-point scale):
- Promoting the community (89%)
- Being a Catalyst for Business Growth and Strengthening the Local Economy (85%)
- Being a Champion for a Stronger Community (83%)
- Top 3 performance areas of the chamber:
- Being a Champion for a Stronger Community (68%)
- Providing programs to build business relations (67%)
- Promoting the community (66%)
- When asked to score your chamber (from 1-9) on whether they agree that the chamber excels at some key areas, two areas stood out
- Being a proven hub of information within the business community (68% scored it high – a 7, 8 or 9)
- Being a trusted convener for leaders and influencers (61% scored it high – a 7, 8 or 9)
