4th Quarter 2015 Business Expansion Awards Recipients
As a direct result of the North Star Economic Development Marketing Study, the Chamber will be taking the lead on helping existing businesses grow. Assistance will be provided by the other economic development partners including GJEP and the Business Incubator Center. With funding from Mesa County and the City of Grand Junction, the Chamber will be adding a full-time position to the staff dedicated to doing outreach and providing one-on-one assistance to companies throughout the Grand Valley.
Specifically, this individual will be conducting onsite interviews with businesses, identifying and assisting companies that may be at risk of leaving and helping those in an expansion mode access community resources to assist them. Industry roundtables will also be convened to identify specific trends that can be addressed in order to help the entire local industry cluster be more successful as well.
“We’ve identified this kind of activity addressing the needs of existing local businesses as being essential for at least two years,” noted Diane Schwenke, President and CEO. “Now through the funding provided by the County and City we can actually move forward in early 2016.”
