The banquet is over and I want to thank everyone who was a part of the evening from our award winners to our casino dealers to the banquet planning committee. I especially want to thank all of you who attended the event and participated in our auction to raise funds for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy and Mesa County Leadership program.
Our theme was Business Super Heroes and you will likely be reminded of that from time to time throughout 2015 because our banquet theme is also carried over to other events and activities.
This month I’d like to focus on what might appear to be little things that you could do that would qualify you for “Chamber Super Hero” status with us. This is your chamber of commerce and its strength lies in having a strong membership base composed of businesses of all sizes. One of my personal goals as Chair is to see membership levels return to 1000 businesses. We’ve been there before and with your help we can be there again. Take a look around your business neighborhood and see who may not yet be a member. Share with them what the Chamber does for you and pass their contact information along to the Chamber staff to follow up. If just 20% of you do that and we close on 30% of those leads we will meet that goal!
Another way you can help your Chamber is by volunteering. Serve on a committee, help us with our upcoming Directory Delivery Drive, mentor a young business owner through our Young Entrepreneurs Academy or participate in our ribbon cuttings and cash mobs. The possibilities are endless and the time commitment can be as little as 3-4 hours a month. Let us know what you are interested in and we will match you with the volunteer opportunity that works for you. Many of our members have seen a return on this investment in the Chamber through acquiring new customers so everybody wins.
Finally, I would urge you to seriously consider becoming a sponsor of one of our events, a prize or auction donor, or by upgrading your membership to the next level. All of those things not only give your business added exposure, but also serve to strengthen the Chamber financially in order to more effectively represent business and promote the economy. Let’s all try just a little harder this year to strive for Chamber Superhero status!
