Health Care Survey Shows Employers Still Provide Coverage

Last month the Chamber conducted a survey in preparation for our Annual Health Care Summit that asked members a few questions about health insurance and health care for their employees. We would like to thank the 90 members who responded. What the survey confirmed for our leadership and the Health Care Summit presenters is that cost is still the big driver and frustration of our member. But the survey also held a surprise. As an association of predominately small businesses with less than 10 employees, we expected that many of you had dropped health insurance. That was not the case! Almost 74% of respondents still offer some sort of health insurance to their employees and about the same percentage do not have current plans to substantially change this benefit. However, deductibles are rising and employee cost sharing is going up.
