New apprentices participated in CareerWise Bootcamp Training on June 10-11 with excellent participation from apprentices, as well as business and community partners. Returning apprentices also polished up their professional skills at Rebootcamp on June 11.
Apprentices took part in the information packed Bootcamp and Rebootcamp programs, covering a wide range of topics to gear them up for the working world including professionalism, workplace communication, stress management, networking and more. Thanks to our partners who provided presentations and assistance with professional development sessions including Candace and Darcy from the Grand Junction Area Chamber; Kirsten Maska and Rhonda Johnson from Mesa County Workforce Center, and Rebecca Weitzel with Good Life Wellness Solutions. Curtis Englehart, Mesa County Workforce Center Director also welcomed our apprentices at kickoff.
Apprentices and supervisors were also recognized during a luncheon with parents, and program partners in attendance including Brigitte Sundermann, Western Colorado Community College; Diana Sirko, Mesa County Valley School District 51; Tom Parrish, Mesa County Valley School Board; Andrea Bolton and Bo Tobin from District 51 Career & College Readiness Department along with many other valued community and educational partners.

The 2019 cohort includes 11 apprentices from 9 businesses: Mesa County Public Health (1), DT Swiss (1), Family Health West (1), Bank of Colorado (1), Innovative Textiles (2), Spendrup Fan (1), GJ Housing Authority (1), DoubleTree by Hilton (2), City of Grand Junction (1). Participating schools include Fruita Monument High School (4), Central High School (3), Grand Junction High School (2), Grand River Academy (1) and Valley High School (1).
