Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Redlands Mesa Golf Course and attendees enjoying the activities

What happens when you put nearly 200 members of the business community on a golf course for the day? A lot more than golf!

On Friday, September 25th, the 33rd Annual Grand Junction Area Chamber Golf Tournament returns to the Golf Club at Redlands Mesa, bringing together business leaders, frontline team members, colleagues, clients, and community partners from across the region.

For some, it’s a favorite Chamber tradition. For others, it may be their first tournament or their first time picking up a golf club in quite a while. Either way, what makes the day valuable has never been limited to what happens on the scorecard.

A Different Kind of Business Conversation

Most of our professional interactions happen with a purpose. Meetings have agendas. Emails need answers. Networking events have a start and finish. Then everyone gets back to work.

A day on the golf course changes the environment.

People from different businesses, industries, roles, and levels of leadership are sharing the same course. There’s an opportunity to reconnect with someone you haven’t seen in a while, meet people outside your usual circle, or finally put a face to a name you’ve encountered through the business community.

And not every conversation needs to result in a new client or partnership to be valuable.

Sometimes knowing more of the people doing business in your community and giving them an opportunity to know you, has value all its own. Those relationships help create a more connected business community and can open doors long after everyone leaves the course.

For employers, the tournament can also be an opportunity to bring a team together outside its usual environment, invite a client or business partner, or give employees a chance to build relationships throughout the broader business community.

And with people ranging from top business leaders to frontline team members participating, it’s one of those unique Chamber events where connections happen across titles and industries.

Make the Day Work for You

You don’t have to rearrange your entire day, or be an avid golfer, to participate.

With morning and afternoon tee times, teams can choose the option that works best for their schedules. Individual player spots are also available for those who want to participate without assembling a foursome.

And being part of the tournament doesn’t necessarily mean playing.

Businesses can get involved through sponsorship opportunities, providing visibility and a chance to engage with participants throughout the event. Volunteers help keep one of the Chamber’s largest annual events moving, and businesses and community members can also contribute prizes.

Whether you play, sponsor, volunteer, or donate, there are plenty of ways to be part of the day.

An Investment Beyond the Course

The impact of the tournament doesn’t end with the final putt.

Proceeds support two cornerstone Grand Junction Area Chamber programs: the Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA!) and the Mesa County Leadership Program.

YEA! gives middle and high school students the opportunity to move from an idea to launching a real business, supported along the way by mentors and members of our local business community.

The Mesa County Leadership Program, now in its 33rd year, brings professionals from across industries together to deepen their understanding of the community and develop informed, engaged leaders prepared to help shape its future.

There’s a fitting connection between the two: a day that brings today’s business community together also helps invest in those who will build and lead it tomorrow.
