The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Allison Ellington, Director of Member and Community Engagement, has graduated from the Western Association of Chamber Executives (W.A.C.E.) Academy. This milestone marks a significant investment in professional development, as she joins an elite group of chamber professionals who have completed the intensive three-year training program.

Ellington was recognized at W.A.C.E.’s Annual Conference in Las Vegas, where nearly 400 chamber professionals from across the western United States gathered to celebrate the graduation of this year’s Academy class.

The W.A.C.E. Academy, established in 2003, is widely regarded as the premier training program for chamber executives in the region. Over three years, participants engage in hands-on coursework designed to strengthen their leadership, strategic planning, and advocacy skills. The program covers everything from managing chamber finances and increasing member engagement to navigating government relations and economic development strategies.

“Allison’s commitment to this program and her leadership at our Chamber has already made a lasting impact,” said Candace Carnahan, President & CEO of the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce. “In just three years with us, she has helped create stronger connections with our members and the community. She’s driving meaningful change, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next.”

Ellington’s time in the Academy provided her with exposure to industry best practices, equipping her with new tools and strategies that she’s already bringing back to Mesa County. The program’s curriculum is designed to develop leaders who can tackle the challenges facing today’s businesses, from workforce shortages to policy advocacy.

Glenn Morris, President & CEO of W.A.C.E., emphasized the importance of the Academy, stating, “Strong chambers require strong leaders, and that’s exactly what the W.A.C.E. Academy is designed to cultivate. This program provides chamber professionals with the tools, insights, and connections they need to be more effective advocates for their business communities. We are proud to see Allison join the ranks of Academy graduates who are helping to shape the future of chambers across the country.”

For Ellington, the experience was more than just an educational opportunity—it was a chance to connect with fellow chamber leaders, share ideas, and gain insights that will benefit businesses in Grand Junction and beyond.

Her graduation isn’t just a milestone for her personally; it’s a win for the local business community. With a deeper understanding of how chambers can advocate for businesses, foster economic growth, and create meaningful programs, Ellington is well-positioned to help Mesa County’s business community thrive.
