As we move into the month of May, the Grand Junction Chamber is excited to announce that National Economic Development Week is right around the corner! During this week, our community and communities across North America will celebrate and recognize the contributions made by professional economic developers to create more economically vibrant and livable communities.
Economic development is the foundation of thriving communities, and this week provides an opportunity for us to recognize the hard work of economic development professionals across the country. During this week, we will be shining a spotlight on the innovative strategies and initiatives that are driving economic growth and creating jobs in our communities.
The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) created Economic Development Week in 2016 to recognize the work that economic development organizations and professionals do in their communities. This professional week continued this tradition to promote and raise awareness for local job creation programs, advance career development opportunities, and improve communities’ quality of life everywhere. Since starting this initiative, over 450 international Economic Development Week campaigns have generated millions of impressions, hours of media coverage, and hundreds of news stories, generating buzz for EDOs globally.
We encourage everyone to get involved in celebrating economic development throughout the week of May 8th – 12th and to support the important work of economic development professionals in our area.
Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our families.
