Job purpose

The Programs & Communication Manager reports to the Chamber President/CEO and is responsible for managing the development, execution, and promotion of innovative programs and communication initiatives that empower our member businesses, foster economic growth, and enhance the overall business environment within our community.

It is a full-time, salaried exempt position with full benefits including paid time off, 401k, and health insurance including eye and dental coverage.

This position requires a self-motivated, engaged, service-oriented individual who can manage multiple projects at any given time. Excellent time management, innovative creativity, and attention to details are essential to the success of this position.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Program Development: Conceptualize, design, and implement a diverse range of programs, workshops, seminars, and events that cater to the professional development, education, and networking requirements of our members. Ensure that programs align with the chamber’s objectives and address current business challenges.
  2. Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that effectively communicate the value proposition of chamber programs, events, and membership benefits. Create compelling content across various platforms to drive engagement, participation, and membership growth.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with local businesses, government entities, community organizations, and other partners to identify collaboration opportunities, gather insights, and enhance the overall impact of chamber programs and initiatives.
  4. Member Support: Provide exceptional support and guidance to chamber members, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and suggestions regarding programs and marketing efforts. Ensure members derive tangible value from their participation.
  5. Data Analysis: Utilize data-driven insights to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and marketing campaigns. Continuously monitor key performance metrics, gather feedback, and make data-informed decisions to optimize future initiatives.
  6. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams to align programs and marketing efforts with other chamber functions, such as membership development, advocacy, and community outreach, ensuring a cohesive and synergistic approach.
  7. Budget Management: Responsible for managing budgets related to programs and marketing activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
  8. Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in both programs and marketing domains. Leverage innovative approaches to enhance the chamber’s brand and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred but not required
  • Proven experience in program development, event planning, and marketing, preferably within a chamber of commerce or similar business-oriented organization.
  • Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to execute multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite preferred, not required.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate fresh and impactful ideas.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of partners and stakeholders of various levels
  • Experience working with planning and managing meetings and events
  • Strong presentation skills as well as written, verbal and communications skills
  • Maintaining a variety of files and records.
  • Responding to requests and inquiries from the general public.
  • Understanding and following oral and written instructions.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and formulate a course of action.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and materials.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Working conditions

  • This position will involve primarily working indoors
  • Work will be conducted within the constraints of frequent interruptions
  • Travel is often required but is primarily limited to the Grand Valley
  • Early morning and evening hours are likely to be required on occasion

Physical requirements

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull: The individual in this position normally lifts and carries objects not weighing more than 25 pounds, generally files or small office supplies and equipment.
  • See and hear: Must have adequate visual acuity to translate information into the computer and complete manual documentation, this is required on an almost continual basis. Must have adequate auditory abilities to respond to staff and visitors

Salary Range: $55,750 – $67,500 plus benefits
