2023 Chair of the Board - Andrea Golike photoAs we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of our local economy, it is our privilege to share with you why workforce development has emerged as a key priority for our Chamber of Commerce. It is a subject that touches the heart of our community, our businesses, and a thriving economic climate.

Workforce development is not just a buzzword; it’s a lifeline for our region’s prosperity. At the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, we have always been dedicated to advancing the economic well-being of our community. However, our commitment to this mission has never been more critical than it is today.

The driving force behind any successful business is its people, and our region is no exception. We recognize that to thrive, we must invest in our greatest asset: the people that enable business success. Our local businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they must have a skilled, adaptable, and motivated workforce to ensure they can grow and remain competitive in the ever-changing global market.

However, this is not a task that we can undertake alone. The strength of our community lies in our ability to collaborate and unite for a common purpose. We cannot overstate the importance of our partners in this endeavor. Together with our educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and government agencies, we are striving to create a comprehensive approach to workforce development that will benefit all members of our community.

Our partners are essential because they bring diverse perspectives, resources, and expertise to the table. Whether it’s providing training programs, offering scholarships, or creating apprenticeship opportunities, our collaborators are essential in shaping the future of our workforce.

To achieve success in workforce development, we must work closely together keeping tightly focuses on improvement in workforce readiness. There are many programs and initiatives in our community aimed at workforce development. Each of these efforts is commendable, but we must ensure they are coordinated and focused to avoid duplication and maximize their impact. Together, we can leverage our resources and reduce barriers for our local employers, making it easier for them to access the talent they need to thrive.

Our goal is clear: to create a Grand Valley where businesses can flourish, where our youth have access to rewarding careers, and the entire community thrives. To achieve this vision, workforce development is not merely an option; it’s a necessity. It’s about providing opportunities, reducing inequalities, and ensuring a vibrant future for all.

This September, let’s come together to celebrate Workforce Development Month.

Throughout the month of September, we invite you to join us in celebrating the strides we have made and the journey ahead. There will be events, workshops, and opportunities to get involved. Together, we can shape a brighter future for our Valley. Let’s remain united in our commitment to workforce development and resulting success for our community.
