The Chamber’s Energy and Economic Development Committee is making plans to coordinate a community presence at the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in June. The purpose of the effort is to help existing businesses interact with potential customers; visit manufacturing companies in attendance that may be growing and looking for additional locations and to strengthen relationships with companies that already have a presence in Western Colorado. All of those efforts are intended to help create jobs and diversify the economy.
This Chamber Committee is a unique position to engage the community in that its membership includes representation from the energy industry, general business, City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado Mesa University, WSCOGA and GJEP. It is anticipated that up to 20 individuals will participate in manning a trade show booth, visiting fellow exhibitors and participants and making calls on corporate offices.
The Global Petroleum Show is one of the largest gatherings of energy related companies in the world. It is estimated that there are over 2,000 exhibitors and 60,000 attendees. For more information on this effort, contact Diane (diane@gjchamber.org).
