The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Mesa University, and the Grand Junction Economic Partnership continue to work alongside each other to help connect graduating college students to career opportunities and resources throughout the Grand Valley through CMU Career Services and the Grand Junction Career Passport Program.
The Passport Program launched in Fall 2021 and is more than just another job resource – it helps bridge the gap between local employers and CMU work-ready students. It was designed to help Mesa County businesses recruit local talent and work towards building a sustainable workforce that meets the needs of our community. Additionally, CMU Career Services, outside of the Career Passport Program, provides numerous resources for CMU students and alumni to prepare for the workforce from job fairs to getting “dressed for success” through their newest endeavor – the CMU Student Business Closet.
The GJ Chamber, along with the other partners, continues to support the Grand Junction Career Passport Program and Career Services effort through several events and by sharing information with our members and the local business community. Below are a few upcoming events:
September 1st – CMU Student Business Closet Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
Join CMU Career Services and other local partners for the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the CMU Student Business Closet on Sept. 1st from 9-10am at the Davis School of Business, Dominguez Hall Room 101C! There will be donuts and coffee served afterward.
September 1st – GJACC is accepting donations for the CMU Student Business Closet
The CMU Student Business Closet is free and available to all CMU students and the program is asking for the community, alumni, and local businesses to help by donating gently used professional clothing and accessories, sponsoring a rack, or providing cash donations! The GJ Chamber is a drop-off location for donations and will be accepting donations on September 1st from 10am- 5pm. For more specific details about this effort and program, please click here.
