Sitting in the front row of last month’s Annual Energy Summit, I listened to the impactful and knowledgeable presentations given by a wonderful selection of experts. Covering a variety of perspectives and topics all related to a successful path forward, one common thread stood out…. The importance of collaboration and engagement when it comes to policy-making.

When different points of view are brought into the conversation, more often than not, the end result is stronger and more sustainable because all resources and opportunities have been explored. As a Chamber, we understand the importance of this and take our role as a “convener” very seriously as shown at the Energy Summit (along with our other many programs throughout the year). We encourage hearty discussions around the tough conversations that need to happen to keep our economy and community strong.

We also remain committed to being a catalyst to ensuring topics that are impacting our success are being brought into the light and given our attention as we continue to be the strong voice of business for Western Colorado, knowing we are heavily outnumbered by the other side of the mountains.

Policies and regulations set forth each year rewrite the tempo of owning and operating a business in Colorado. If we are not out there “beating the drum” to the beat of sustainable and healthy economic conditions, we will find ourselves marching to a song that no longer sings the notes of prosperity and stability.

Whether we are working to navigate the legislative session currently underway, engaging with our local government to protect our economic base, or collaborating with our partners on issues and topics that contribute to the vitality of our Valley, there is no doubt that this organization will be at the table, leading the chorus of what it takes to keep the heartbeat of our community thriving.
