Writing the first column as your 2023 Board Chair, I’m struck by what an honor it is to be in this position at such an exciting and pivotal moment for the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce. As you may already know, I am the Plant Manager of CoorsTek in Grand Junction with a long history of involvement in our Chamber including graduation from the Mesa County Leadership Program in 1995.
I am committed to the strength and success of every business in our community and can assure you that the passion I have for the economic health of the Grand Valley will be front and center during my tenure as Chair. With appreciation, I have watched the Chamber’s Immediate Past Chair, Ivan Geer, as he led the Chamber through the most significant change it had seen in three decades, setting us up for continued success and expanded opportunities as I take the helm.
Moving into this new year, we are committed to capitalize on this pivotal moment under new Chamber leadership, knowing it’s not often an organization has an opportunity to reflect on past, great accomplishments while turning its focus to the future to explore strategies to increase effectiveness and identify new ways to expand impact.
Through the next year, alongside my fellow board members and Chamber staff, I look forward to getting out into our community and taking the time to listen. Listening to hear how your business is doing, what can the Chamber do to support you, and how we can all engage together in strategies and produce solutions that protect our economic prosperity.
I’ve seen both this organization and our valley go through ups and downs, traversing unforeseen challenges, and working together to protect the stability and vitality of our future. With another year ahead that will bring uncertainty and obstacles, one thing will remain constant – our unwavering commitment to be the voice of business in the Grand Valley. We will work tirelessly to be a trusted resource and advocate, navigating barriers and burdens you face daily in your business.
In the coming year, I am humbled to serve as your 2023 Chair of the Board, and I know everyone– from our stakeholders, staff, volunteers, and partners– will do everything they can to continue the tradition of collaboration and hard work to ensure a vibrant business community.
Afterall, without a thriving economy, you cannot have a thriving community. I look forward to serving you throughout the year!
