An aspect of our CMU 20,000 effort to grow enrollment and grow community support is to increase the positive interaction between students and businesses. Last month, with that in mind we solicited Chamber member businesses to provide discounts that we could share with students when they return to campus. This month we are asking for your support as well but in a different form. Students will be moving back into the dorms on August 17th and 18th with classes slated to begin on August 20th. You can help make them feel welcome in the following ways:
- Display a Welcome Back CMU Students message on your billboard from August 15th through the first full week of school August 25th. Take a picture of it and post it to the GJ Chamber Facebook page and/or the CMU 20,000 Facebook page.
- Be one of the 10-12 business volunteers needed to welcome back students in person from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, August 17th or Saturday, August 18th. As a volunteer you will hand out water and provide a friendly community face during what can be a bit of a stressful time. To volunteer email the Chamber at (Candace@gjchamber.org) and we will put you in communication with CMU staff.
- Ensure your “We are CMU” sticker is firmly affixed in a place of prominence in your business so that as students begin patronizing our members they will know you are a supporter of the University and appreciate their business. If you don’t have a sticker or need a new one contact the Chamber (970-242-3214) or stop by and pick one up.
